Why We Built 40MAG
Over 300 submissions, a massive queue, and the need for a new stage.

Yesterday, I mentioned that we crossed 300 submissions and have nearly 100 articles sitting in the SPINLOG queue. I also dropped a link at the bottom of the page: www.40mag.de.
Here is what that's all about.
When SPINLOG started, the idea was simple: honest curation and deep dives into independent music. But watching our inbox absolutely explode over the last few weeks made one thing very clear. We simply can't feature every great track on SPINLOG without completely burning out or dropping our editorial standards.
We needed another outlet. That’s why we launched 40MAG.
The modern music industry is incredibly noisy. Today, independent artists are forced to wear every single hat, fighting against algorithms and hollow metrics just to get heard. 40MAG is our direct response to that.
While SPINLOG remains our home for extensive reviews, 40MAG is a clean, distraction-free stage for authentic sounds and the human stories behind the music. Whether it's heavy guitar riffs, dark electronic beats, or late-night indie pop—if the vibe is right, it goes there.
Both platforms share the exact same DNA: 100% non-profit, zero payola, and driven purely by our love for the scene.
To see exactly what we are going for, head over to the new site and read our full mission statement on the homepage: BEYOND THE NOISE.
Welcome to 40MAG. Let's build something real together.
(Quick note on submissions: Please keep it focused. Pitch to the platform that fits your track best, but don’t send the exact same song to both magazines. Let’s keep the queue clean!)
