From Beats to Reverb: Dreamerr Nails the Shoegaze Vibe on 'What A Shame'
A lo-fi hip hop beatmaker takes a heavy detour into melancholic rock, and it sounds incredibly raw.

It is always cool to see bedroom producers switch things up. Romanian artist Dreamerr usually makes lo-fi hip hop, but 'What A Shame' marks his first run at rock music, specifically, some seriously moody shoegaze. Inspired by Slowdive, he built this entire instrumental using just an Alesis v49 MIDI keyboard, layering digital guitars with warm electric keys. He then sent the beat to a singer who sent back the vocal track within two hours, and the result is a massive, reverb-heavy atmosphere that hits hard.
The lyrics deal with the quiet pain of a close relationship turning completely cold. With its ghostly vocals floating over a driving rhythm, the track feels like something you would play on repeat during a lonely, late-night drive. It is raw, emotional, and shows exactly why sticking to just one genre is overrated.
