Jordan Cruz Digs Out of the Wreckage on 'no longer in control'

Most people trying to keep their lives from falling apart put up a front. For years, Jordan Cruz kept that wall rock-solid in Akron, Ohio, graduating early, landing valedictorian, and getting into nursing school before turning 17. Behind closed doors, it was a totally different reality, defined by years of early abuse, heavy addiction, and keeping quiet just to survive. When that wall finally caved in during early adulthood, the breakdown was total, and that frantic, out-of-body panic sits right at the center of 'no longer in control'.

Cruz wrote the track early on without overthinking the technical side, running on gut instinct and the loud, driving bounce of mid-2000s alt-rock and Machine Gun Kelly. Sitting at a slow-burning 88 BPM, the rhythm section gives the verses room to sweat before the hook kicks down the door:

Kick open the bathroom door / Don't remember what I asked you for / An endless game I must endure / Tell me I'm right, but I'm not sure.

It sounds like someone losing their grip in real time, where the noise inside your head gets so loud you can not tell who is running the show anymore.

Instead of turning the song into a sad dirge, Cruz leans into the wreckage with loud guitars, big drums, and zero self-pity. It is sweaty, chaotic, and completely open, trading slick studio polish for the kind of messy relief you only get when you stop pretending everything is fine.
