Building the Infrastructure – How Spinlog is Scaling the Underground
Welcome to the lab. The music industry is louder than ever, but instead of fighting the algorithms, we are building our own ecosystem. Here is an inside look at how Spinlog, 40MAG, and our completely independent network are operating right now.
By Markus ·

I’m Markus, the producer behind TELN. While my heart beats for producing deep UK Tech House, my own releases have intentionally taken a back seat right now. Why? Because I fundamentally believe that independent artists shouldn't have to rely on shifting algorithms, bleed money for rigid subscription tools, or beg for gatekept magazine coverage just to get heard.
All my focus and energy are currently pouring into writing code, running the magazines, and building the infrastructure to give the underground scene the stage it deserves.
Here is a status report on what is happening behind the scenes, how our daily engine works, and how you can become a part of the foundation.
The Daily Engine & The Great Migration
Both Spinlog MAG and 40MAG are running hot. While I never give fixed guarantees, since the output heavily depends on my own bandwidth and, most importantly, the raw quality of your submissions, we aim for a strong daily publishing rhythm to guarantee maximum exposure for authentic sounds:
40MAG: 1 to 2 fresh articles per day.
Spinlog MAG: 2 to 5 fresh articles per day.
But we aren't just looking forward. We have established official syndicated blog archives across platforms like Tumblr, Blogspot, Flipboard, and Pinterest. A feature on Spinlog shouldn't die after 24 hours. We are building long-term, evergreen SEO traffic to maximize the reach of our platform and the artists we champion.
Expanding the Network: Decentralized Sharing
A feature isn't just a link on a website. To expand our reach beyond the standard algorithms, we have recently established official hubs on Bluesky, Mastodon, Mix, Substack, and X (Twitter). We are actively and selectively pushing dedicated features across these decentralized networks with custom captions and links. When a track gets the spotlight, your sound goes everywhere.
Visual Storytelling on IG & TikTok
When it comes to Instagram and TikTok, you probably already know our visual approach. Plain links just don't fly on visual platforms. That's why we rely on our custom-built generator that creates highly professional 3-Slide Story Packs for featured artists:
Slide 1: The Cover (High-end digital magazine aesthetic).
Slide 2: The Story (The core review snippet + a direct QR code).
Slide 3: The Mission (About the indie ecosystem).
Depending on the daily drop, the 40MAG articles get this treatment, and Spinlog gets at least one dedicated 3-slide feature per day. The Golden Rule: Spinlog operates on mutual support. If you provide high-quality press shots when you submit your track, it makes it much easier for us to generate a killer Story Pack for you!
Fueling the Lab: Keep the Ecosystem Alive
Everything we build here, from the magazines to the 360° Artist CRM is 100% independent, ad-free, and self-funded. There are no paywalls and no gatekeepers.
However, running the custom Railway infrastructure, hosting the databases, and renewing domains for this growing network costs real money. That is why we just launched our official Ko-fi Page. We have set up a transparent funding goal: 100% of any support goes directly into paying the monthly server and tech infrastructure. Not a single minute of my invested time, just the cold, hard metal keeping these sites fast and independent for all artists.
PART 2: The Network – Where to Find & Follow Us
Want to see the new syndication engine in action, read the archives, or connect with us on the new decentralized platforms?
You can find every single link to our active magazines (Spinlog & 40MAG), the new syndicated archives (Tumblr, Blogspot, Flipboard, Pinterest, LiveJournal, Quora, Reddit ), and our social hubs (Bluesky, Mastodon, Mix, X, Instagram, TikTok, Plurk, Pillowfort, Minds, Substack Posts ) neatly organized in our central hub below.
Follow the pages, share the articles, and interact with the posts. Supporting the network means directly supporting yourself and the entire indie community.
Stay independent. Let's keep building.

P.S. – Radical Transparency on Costs: People always talk about "infrastructure costs," but let's put real numbers on it. Currently, running this entire ecosystem costs me roughly €55 out of my own pocket every single month. That breaks down to:
~€30 for Railway (hosting the apps, databases, and core infrastructure)
~€10 for Firefly (generating visuals)
~€10 for domains and basic tooling
~€5 just for the extra electricity powering the lab.
No profits, no hidden fees. Every single coffee on Ko-fi simply helps to zero out this monthly bill. ☕️
